JonBenet Ramsey’s death remains a mystery decades after her case gripped the nation in 1996.

The mystery of JonBenet Ramsey‘s horrific death has rocked America for over two decades. The child pageant star was born on August 6, 1990 and won multiple pageants until her tragic murder in December of 1996. JonBenet was just six years old when she was found dead by her father in the basement of her parents’ Colorado home on Dec. 26, 1996. Hours earlier, JonBenet’s mother reported to police that her daughter was kidnapped and was left with a ransom note demanding $118,000. The homicide launched an investigation that has remained unsolved to this day. The DA didn’t exonerate JonBenet’s parents as suspects until 2008, two years after JonBenet’s mother passed away from ovarian cancer. The search for JonBenet’s official killer (or killers) is still ongoing, as filmed in the 2019 docuseries, “Hunting JonBenet’s Killer: The Untold Story.” In the same year, JonBenet’s older brother, Burke, settled a $750 million defamation lawsuit against CBS after he was speculated as a suspect in the network’s 2016 docuseries, The Case of: JonBenét Ramsey.
